Channels marked "Discontinued" have stopped working and are no longer useful in any meaningful capacity. Some of these channels provided limited-time content for upcoming games, TV specials, or similar offerings. Many others, such as Weather, News, and the Check Mii Out and Everybody Votes channels were discontinued June 27, 2013 as part of a phase-out of WiiConnect24.
I've taken a look at why Minna no Nintendo Channel returns a 177404:On a Japanese Wii, the data is loaded from On a US Wii, the data is loaded from Since this is the Japanese server, US/en does not exist, so the channel must be tricked somehow to load from /4/JP/ja/csdata.LZ
wii internet channel wad pal download
I modified the Minna no Nintendo Channel to go to the JP/ja/csdata.LZ, but it fails to get and This was done by changing the US to JP and the en to ja, but it looks like csdata.LZ may contain data from multiple regions, so it is still sending the incorrect US data which is causing error 262000. It looks like the values of the region being sent to the channel needs to be faked as coming from a Japanese system.
I'll be damned...you're banned from WiiSpeak. There is a universal unban code for ocarina floating around the net. You can try applying that ocarina code using Gecko OS 1.9 or newer (it has a channel launcher), but I've had limited success with ocarina on channels. There's also a file on your wii you can hack to change your identifier and unban the console, but I don't have the details on it ATM.
If you look you will see it is actually a channel, not the .wad itself. This is the channels page not homebrew and hasn't been updated in 4 months.Apart from that, there isn't much difference between v1.3 & 1,7 anyway, they both install .wad's
I've had my Wii for a couple years now, but have recently decided to explore it's capability. I am somewhat tech savvy, I've worked in the field for 10 years and have my degree in IT, but I'm a little lost when it comes to these gaming consoles. I have managed to get the home brew channel installed, I'm not sure what to do with it now. My system is 4.0u (not sure this is a question, but maybe you have some pointers?)2.
I was reading here about some pretty cool features of the internet channel, which I want to purchase, however when I went to wii shop channel, it told me I had to do a system update and warned me, I wasn't sure about updating and can't find much about if I'll be able to do this system update with the home brew channel installed.3. Are there more apps that need to be installed along with the home brew channel in order to play my back up game discs? I burned a DVD-R disc with an ISO image I had created from a game I own, but when I try to get to the game using the home brew channel I get an invalid disc error. I'm lost here, I was sure I wasn't doing it right but had no direction of where to go from there.4. I would also like to play dvd movies on my wii, I understand this is possible but haven't even begun to explore as I'd like to figure out 1-3 first.Any advice, help, tips is greatly appreciated! 1) The homebrew channel is a method of booting homebrew programs without having to run some kind of hack (Such as twilight hack, bannerbomb, exc) every time you want to boot them.
Theoretically you could softmod the wii without the homebrew channel by running a hack every time you needed to run a homebrew program, but using the homebrew channel is FAR easier.Once you get the softmod set up, you can use the homebrew channel to install other custom channels or to run homebrew programs like emulators and play classic games.2) If you update online it will take you to firmware level 4.2. It won't harm your wii in any way but it will remove your homebrew channel and any custom IOS's (firmwares) that you've installed. They can be reinstalled afterwards, but you'll need to follow a 4.2-specific guide. If you want to purchase the opera channel without updating you'll probably need to find a wad file for the most recent version of the shop and install it with the wad manager. I'm not really sure where to find that.Alternatively, you could download a wad for the opera channel and install that. Opera is a free program and at one time the download for the wii version was free as well. So while it is technically still pirating the channel and I cant provide you with a link, its pirating a program that is normally free anyway. The moral implications are up to you to decide.I didn't think that the wii internet channel was really worth having anyway.3) It sounds to me like you are missing some of the cIOS's required to play backup games.
Thank you so much for clearing things up! It sounds like I am on the right path then. I was reading about twilight, bannerbomb, etc, and was wondering what they had to do with anything, but sounds like as long as I have the home brew channel installed I'm good to go as far as that's concerned. I did use this wonderful guide ( ) to get homebrew installed.
When I go to that channel, I can click start, which brings me into something unfamiliar that has different references to cIOS's. I take it this is where I'm supposed to go to install these things? I was unclear of this (surprise, surprise) when I was working on it.Thanks for the advice on the Internet channel. Because of that, I think I'll skip it for now and if I have a need for it later, I'll revisit the idea, this way, I don't have to worry about the system update, and why worry about it when you say the channel is not really worth it anyway. From what I read, it is better for me to keep the current 4.0.Again, thanks for the advice on the DVD issue, it makes sense and why put my wii's health at risk when I can continue to watch DVD's the way I always have been? So, it sounds like I'm on the right track, I just need to figure out this cIOS thing, right?
If you can find out what IOS's are needed then you can find them online and install them with the wad manager.2) As I already mentioned, if you update to 4.2 it will remove your homebrew channel and any custom IOS's you've installed. They can be reinstalled but it is always a pain to have to redo something. Thanks again for your solid advice. I am going to try the wiiscrubber, and as I expect, it will work great, given the great results I've had from your advice here.I agree, that I'm pretty much going to try everything before I have to go through with the update and have to redo everything I've already done. Thanks for the advice on the individual ISO's.I have read about preloader, but not sure that I got it installed following larry's guide, as I tried to boot to it, but without success. I am loading the games through neogamma but I don't see that I have an option to not accept the update. What do you think I'm doing wrong, or is there another way to turn off the auto update thingy?
This guide will explain how to install USB Loader GX on your Nintendo Wii.There are two different installation methods (automatic or manual), and two different installed channels which will be displayed on your Wii (Full channel or Forwarder). The differences will be detailed on this page. Requirements. Installation.
Wii Channels are applications available for the Wii console through the Wii Menu. The Wii uses several pre-installed Channels for many of its basic functions, such as launching discs, buying Virtual Console games, and managing Miis. Additional applications and games can be downloaded through the the Wii Shop Channel, giving the Wii console much more flexibility than its predecessors.
The Homebrew Channel is a self-updating homebrew application loader by Team Twiizers which allows users to load homebrew applications without having to run an exploit every time. Once installed, users can access the channel from the Wii System Menu just like any other Wii channel. It can launch or install homebrew applications from an SD or SDHC card or via TCP/USB Gecko using Wiiload. You can install the Homebrew Channel as part of the HackMii Installer by seeing the Installation part of this page.
In order to make icons for the Homebrew Channel show up, they must be in .png format with dimensions of 128x48 pixels. The full alpha channel can be used. Copy it into the folder of the application under the name "icon.png" (e.g. apps/scummvm/icon.png).
As of 1.0.7, The Homebrew Channel is capable of theming. The images and fonts are stored in a theme.zip, which can be executed like a boot.dol from the Homebrew Channel. To uninstall the theme, just go to system menu -> Data Management -> Save Data -> Wii. The homebrew channel should have its own save data, just delete it and that will remove the theme.
I used v1.1 to change my system menu to 3.2U from 3.2J, and set all settings to USA (except Game Region). After reboot I updated my Wii to 3.3U then downgrade it to 3.2U. Now I got a pair of extra News / Weather Channel that don't work (when I click it, it says "Can't use this channel"). Can I use Duplicate Channel Remover to get rid of those two? If I can, what region of Duplicate Channel Remover should I use? JAP (since the newly-added channels are from US update) or US (since the system menu is US now)? Thanks!Jim.Liu 07:42, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
So I think I messed up my news channel, while it's unimportant really. I'd love to know if I can get it back to normal..I had set my Wii shop to Japan and decided to see what would happen if I went to the weather or news channel, it went like this.. weather wouldn't work at all, it told me "English is unsupported" and the news channel worked.. but made me select Japanese for langwhich. When I changed the shop back to UK, the news channel no longer works, I just get wiiconnect 24 errors. So.. oops? What do you think has made this happen.. is there a way to reinstall those channels?
Edit: After testing putting it back to JP, I'm sure that's exactally what happened, as it now connects fine. Now I think the shop, news channel and weather are part of the system menu yes? So if I was to install EU 3.2.. it might fix it? Does doing this affect my wii's mail code or anything like that? I know it likely doesn't.. but just to be sure. 2ff7e9595c
